Obtaining a Saudi Driving License

Steps in Obtaining a Saudi Driving License

  1. 1. Collect the application forms from building 21.  One of these forms will contain a Medical test report certifying fitness for driving.  Fill the main application form (it is in Arabic) and get it stamped in the Driving School.
  2. 2. Take the Medical Test Form to the University Clinic for Eyes Test, Blood Test, and Blood Pressure Test.
  3. 3. If certified at the Clinic, get the Clinic stamp and take the Medical report and the application form to the Driving school for registration.
  4. 4. If you are new to driving and do not have a valid Nigerian Driving License, you need to pay SAR435 at the Driving School.  This amount is to cater to driving lessons classes and your application processing.
  5. 5. After payment of this amount, you will be given (a) driving training + class schedules, (b) driving manual/guide – this explains highway codes and signals, dos and don'ts of driving, fines for traffic violations, etc.
  6. 6. You will need to attend five classroom sessions and at least 10 sessions of driving training.  The driving training are handled by instructors.
  7. 7. After you have attended five classroom sessions and completed your driving trainings, you will be scheduled for a driving test.  The driving test is followed with a Computer Test, if you are successful on the driving test.
  8. 8. If not successful on the first attempt, you can only be scheduled for up to two more times after which you will be asked to undergo the driving training again.
  9. 9. If you are not new to driving and also have a valid  Nigerian driving license, you will need to submit the Arabic-translated license; medical test report and application form in (iii) above in the driving school.  The application fee is SAR100.
  10. 10. After submitting these documents  for processing at the driving school, you need to attend at least a classroom session after which you are scheduled for a driving test.
  11. 11. Like in the case of new drivers, you will have only three chances of driving test.  However, in case you are not successful at the third attempt, you will be asked to register for driving training.
