Obtaining a Family Visit Visa

A family visit visa is a non-immigrant visa for anyone desiring to enter the kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the purpose of visiting someone with a first-degree relation (parents, wife, children).  Family visit visas do not grant the applicant the right to work or reside in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Its duration is currently for three (3) months subject to renewal if the need arises. The following steps are required from the prospective host:

  1.  1. Register and activate an account with MOI known as Abshir account from the website (www.visa.mofa.gov.sa/visaServices/MoquinServices)
  2. 2. Log on to the official website of the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs to fill the required Form and generate a Print-out. (You may need the assistance of an Arab). Applicant should note that the Name of the Visitor should be filled on the site the same way it appears on the visitor's passport and not in Arabic. A unique identification is required from the host's employer and this can be obtained from Passport Office in Building 21 for KFUPM Employees. KFUPM employment no is 7000873559.
  3. 3. Get a photo-copy of the Resident Permits of the Prospective host(ess)(both couple).
  4. 4. Collect Employment Letter in Arabic from Building 21 or the Identification letter (yellow form) for a full-time student.
  5. 5. Get a scanned copy of the photo page of the Prospective Visitor's International Passport.
  6. 6. Documents 1 to 4 are taken to the Passport Office in Building 21 for Endorsement.
  7. 7. The endorsed documents are taken to the Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) in Dammam for application processing. We advise applicants to keep original resident permits handy at MOFA. We also advise applicants to keep hand-held devices such as Mobile phones, laptops or tablets, etc away from MOFA premises as the security guards insist people must put all these devices in the car.  This could pose a challenge for an applicant that has gone there in a taxi.
  8. 8. Upon approval of the application, the visa will be ready in the Saudi Consulate in your home country within two weeks.

The Prospective Visitor should also undertake the following steps:

  1.  1. Procurement of current Medical Certificate of fitness from a Government recognized health institution and authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the home country
  2.  2. An affidavit indicating the consent of the guardian of the Prospective Visitor over the journey and endorsed by the magistrate and also authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  3.  3. A Reference note/Visa Approval Page showing the number and the date of the Visa issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  4.  4. Copy the Prospective host’s Resident Permit
  5.  5. Original travel passport of the Prospective Visitor and two(2) current photos
  6.  6. Documents 1 to 5 will be forwarded to the Saudi Consulate in the home country through accredited Agent for onward claim of the Visa. Note that the Agent charges a fee for the service
