Abstract:

Driving is an activity that almost everyone engages in at one time or another. It is a means of freedom as anyone who can drive does not have to rely on a driver to get around. However, that freedom comes with huge responsibility and risk. Once in the driver’s seat, a whole new world opens up. Safe and defensive driving helps to effectively manage the ‘whole new world’, with the much-desired outcome of always making it home safe and accident-free. This webinar will highlight key ingredients of safe driving with a laser focus on attitude and knowledge. Majority of drivers either lack knowledge of traffic laws and rules of the road or they put up a bad attitude of flouting the rules and laws altogether. The results are unsafe driving, close calls, and avoidable road accidents. In addition, many drivers lack courtesy on the road, forgetting that a driver must always share the road with other road users and do so with courtesy and respect. We will discuss traffic signs and rules of the road, bad driving attitudes, with a view to demystifying any misconceptions, encouraging good driving attitudes, and gaining actionable knowledge and awareness that should make us confident, courteous and safe drivers on the road.
